Choose Your Route

Each route trades off scenery, crowding, acclimatisation profile and success rate. Your planner will help you choose.

Get ready

Preparation, Safety & Equipment

Preparation

  • Begin cardio and hiking training at least 8–12 weeks before departure
  • Include back-to-back long hikes to build endurance
  • Practice hiking with a loaded daypack similar to summit-day weight
  • Discuss altitude medication (e.g. Diamox) with your doctor in advance

Safety

  • All guides carry pulse oximeters and monitor guests twice daily
  • Routes are chosen partly for their acclimatisation profile, not just scenery
  • Portable altitude chambers and oxygen available on request
  • Evacuation procedures and insurance requirements briefed pre-climb

Equipment

  • Layered clothing system: base, insulating and waterproof shell
  • Sturdy, broken-in hiking boots — never brand new for summit day
  • Four-season sleeping bag rated to at least -15°C
  • Full kit list provided on booking; rental gear available in Arusha
